SunVest Closes Acquisition of 60MW of Illinois Community Solar Projects
Portfolio includes projects in both ComEd and Ameren territories expected to begin construction in
the next 12 months
Chicago, IL (September 5, 2024) – SunVest Solar, one of the largest vertically integrated developers of distributed generation renewable energy projects in the U.S., announced today it has closed the acquisition of a portfolio of late-stage development projects in Illinois totaling over 60MWdc.
The portfolio is comprised of 10 community solar projects located in both ComEd and Ameren territories. All projects were previously advanced by an independent developer which sold the
portfolio to SunVest to complete development and bring the projects into operation. Development of the first projects is expected to be complete by late 2024 with construction and initial energizations targeted throughout 2025.
“We are thrilled to close this portfolio acquisition in our core Illinois Community Solar market, which demonstrates our ability to partner with earlier-stage developers to bring projects into
operation,” said Bram Walters, CEO of SunVest Solar. “This portfolio further validates our multi-dimensional strategy which combines self-development with project acquisitions of high-quality and long-term solar assets.”
The acquisition was funded with cash-on-hand while development and construction will be financed under SunVest’s existing facilities.
The Illinois portfolio includes projects located in designated Energy Communities, including a landfill site. As with other projects in Illinois, SunVest intends for several of the sites to be planted
with pollinator-friendly seed mix and used for agrivoltaics purposes.
